  • is society not offering real solutions nowadays

no, not really. I see a lot of people pretending there isn't a problem, a lot of people blaming men for the problem, and some really dumb men blaming women for the problem. Mental health for men is still incredibly stigmatized.

  • Hey, I'm one of those! Started using Bazzite in July, have absolutely fallen in love. My whole gaming library is available, which has been a real first for me with Linux.

  • Honestly? Yeah so far. I swapped to Bazzite after getting a new AMD rig in early July. There was a little bit of setup for the first few weeks, but it's worked perfectly for the whole last month.

I did have many, many issues on my last computer when I was on an Nvidia card though. My impressions are that Linux can be very hardware dependent, and Nvidia is kinda notorious for not supporting their hardware.

  • In some fairness, I can understand fans being a little disappointed that in such a choice focused game, none of their choices ended up mattering in the larger picture.

I'm not really sure how Bethesda could rectify that though. It's not like they could make it so that all of the contradictory choices happened at once through some kind of cataclysmic break in time.

  • I mean, good creators don't? There are still AA and indie devs pouring their heart into stories they want to tell?

This article is basically just bemoaning that AAA develops for the lowest common denominator, which I can understand as a gripe, but it's a very old gripe. If you start really digging into AAA, you'll get other similar ones like "Why are these gameplay loops made for people who don't like gameplay" or "How come perfectly serviceable story focused games get mandatory crafting systems added onto them." When you're trying to make something to broadly appeal to as many people as possible, you stop making art, so I don't know why people keep expecting AAA to produce artistic experiences.

  • can we get much higher?

  • tbh, any system can accommodate this. It's on you as a DM to create/use the various larger factions/entities. You can really make a world feel alive by writing up a few basic opposing factions and having the results of their conflict intertwine with whatever your group is doing. Wanna run a Shadowrun game? Focus on the megacorps going at each other, have the party work some of those jobs, but maybe have another group of NPC runners crash a job. Wanna do D&D? Well, they added factions like the Harpers so that you can have some big players pushing pieces behind the scenes, and have your players stumble onto a wider conspiracy.

I think the biggest thing is that you can't be afraid to give your party a challenge you know they have no hope of defeating. If they're small fish in a big pond, they have to encounter a big fish and learn their place in the hierarchy. If your group is smart, you can give a lot of hints that they need to flee and escape the bigger fish. If they're dumb, have em get wiped out in combat and barely survive.

  • I don't really care too much about which slang words we decide to carry forward. I've long since adopted rizz and -ussy, and like delulu being added here.

I am a little bothered by the fact skibidi doesn't have a definition. I feel like words should have a meaning if they want to be added to our official lexicon. It seems like skibidi is just a sound children enjoy making.

  • This feels like some kinda tumblr singularity event

  • I think anyone familiar with the show expected this. Season 2 is doing all the build up for Alabasta, and Alabasta is a very popular and iconic arc. Even 4kids made it all the way through.

The real question is what's gonna happen after Season 3. Jaya is probably adaptable, even if the mink brothers might be freaky in Live Action, and Skypiea shouldn't be too crazy on the effects, but it is quite long.

  • I started out using an old Nvidia Geforce 1060 TI and an i5 whose model number now escapes me. My experience was terrible, on Mint, Ubuntu, and Bazzite. Most games didn't work, and researching the error messages I found in my logs just directed me to Nvidia forum posts from 6 months to a year ago where a user described my exact issue and received no response.

Then, I purchased a new pre-fab computer with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D processor and a Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU. I still had a handful of issues on Ubuntu, so I switched to Bazzite and it's been smooth sailing ever since. I can run the vast majority of games through Steam, and use Bottles for anything else.

The lesson I learned was fuck Nvidia. Team Red 4 lyfe.

  • spoken like somebody who doesn't know a thing about security.

Windows 10 is going to be compromised the second it goes end-of-life. There are cybercriminals who've been sitting on exploits, potentially for the entire Windows 10 lifecycle, but at the very least for the past year or two. The second Microsoft will no longer commit to patching those, they'll pounce.

Connecting any operating system to the internet after it goes EoL is just asking for trouble.

  • Honestly, it's kinda incredible they held out as long as they did. Sports gambling is quickly becoming the only reason mainstream sports are still broadcasting, and it took over the rest of esports ages ago.

  • RAM

    Jump
  • Yup, absolutely. I use Bottles to manage mine, and run it with ProtonGE. You can also use Lutris, but I recommend not using their auto-installer and setting it up yourself. The auto-installer is an old, broken community one.

  • That's debatable

    it really, actually isn't.

  • A whole new generation is going to learn about the FitnessGram Pacer Test? time to rehash some memes.

  • Kinda wild how frequently it's the same religion being used as a cudgel in SEA, SA, and Africa.

  • I've got some bad news for you about the rich and powerful around the world.
