yup. sync seems to parse it and take any & code and renders it as the actual character. lets lest it.

edit:
i’m even more confused now
doesn’t for me. definitely a client issue. these little quirks are what keeps programmers up at night.
I don’t like calling people “sheeple” but there’s nothing else that would fit for those who bought this.
How do you fight the power? Do you ever, actually?
“wrongly” if in a code block for sure
I use Sync for lemmy, it’s a mess but it’s the app that’s the closest to Joey for me. They charge 30$ to remove ads or 135$(lifetime, it’s like 3$ monthly) to be able to import/export communities lmao
I got a notification when you responded and it was “>” but it renders correctly once I open the post.
edit fucking hell it did it even in quotes, I meant >;
had to use a greek question mark so it doesn’t render
?
edit: my client renders it as the actual character, even though it’s in a code block.
First rule of AITAH:
If the story isn’t completely made up, no one will believe it’s true.
One works like a forum, the other is a microblogging platform. Definitely not the same userbase.
I ended up going down the Ansible route after spending about 6 hours trying the easy-deploy and “manual docker install”, failing miserably with both.
I expected the other methods to be easier but nothing ended up working. Tried the official ansible method with a caddy proxy and it took maybe 30 mins.
I would definitely have given up if I wasn’t so stubborn.
Always went for the free option
You’re on linux? The odds of you getting a virus on linux are not 0 but very slim, since the userbase is very small.
Plus, viruses prey on people’s ignorance. The usual “movie file viruses” are .exe files and can only be run on windows. Most people don’t enable the option to show file extensions on windows, so a filed named “movie.mkv.exe” would show up as “movie.mkv” instead.
IMO, the odds of you accidentally running a virus by playing a .mkv file on linux are as high as the odds of you winning the lottery 3 times in a row.
