I’d settle for keeping Mac/Win versions in sync first!
I would check out your laptop, especially if it’s somewhat new. I have one that is dual booting from an M.2 NVMe drive and a SATA SSD. Even if it didnt, I have easy panels that pop off when I wanted to swap.
This is my comment. 2 drives and you won’t have to worry.
The tragedy here is that you had to make a screenshot to then upload to Mastodon, only later to come here and have to point out where the original post is. It would be great if you could have made the post on Mastodon simply by linking to the original post and then the format would have looked just as good as the screenshot, and then both sides of the Fediverse could converse. Or, the opposite could happen.
I’ve talked about this kind of thing before https://lemm.ee/post/4955936 and some are confident this is how things will eventually end up, so I hope they’re right.
And Canada’s Utah. Former Mormon here and I met many Albertans in the church.
oh no
OK, thanks for the info. I’m glad people have the same thoughts. I hope your confidence pays off, for all of our sakes’.
Yes, so close is exactly what I’m thinking too. Let’s hope it gets there soon, before reddit’s next big fuck-up to push everyone away (birdsite is doing a pretty good keeping up with fucking up, so less worries there).
At least I’m not crazy. Glad you agree.
Hah, you’d think, but everyone else makes it seem like not yet.
Yeah, just muscle memory was there to go to reddit for about a week. I still kind of lament how easy it was to type “redd” with my left hand and the click it on the url bar.
If diarrhea is so great, why did they never make a diarrhea 2?
This game:
I am a mod (and main poster) at c/castles and include an OSM link with all my posts.
So get this, I’ve been slowly injecting random characters into my posts. Just every day that I think about it I go through my history and ctrl+shift+9 to get a random string from Bitwarden and plug it in for a page of posts. I figured it might not look like a mass delete/replace as much as a scripted one is, and doesn’t take me much time.
However, I just noticed today that I can now only view 6 years of my old post history, while I’ve been posting for 12 years. this wasn’t like this earlier this week. I can even find 11 year old posts if I know what specifically to look for. I’ve even tried with the newer web interface and my history cuts off at 6 years.
They’re definitely onto us, even people doing it slowly.
@heartlessevil@lemmy.one linked to the source, looks like there’s no way at the moment. Let’s hope that changes soonish.
Ah thanks, that does look very much on the crawl side of crawl-walk-run. Hopefully the devs understand the urgency of discoverability.
I agree that not many sites will ever again fumble and fuck it up as large as Digg did.
TIL, very helpful!
EDIT: Would be really helpful if I could filter out the 1 vote posts.
