• not disagreeing in any way, but just sharing reputable sources on that statement before anyone says it is a "conspiracy":

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-33398388

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/7/5/us-spied-on-brazilian-president-and-top-officials

Also, given that we are almost 10 years afte this article, I'm pretty sure any sane person (by that I mean someone who is not bolsonarist) can see where the (predictive) article agrees or disagrees with reality (past brazilian news and even memory of events):

    https://themillenniumreport.com/2016/04/brazil-on-the-brink-of-a-u-s-coordinated-coup-detat/

  • Brazilian here: (TL:DR Bolsonaro did it first and, if it was staged, he at least acted pretty well and kinda believable (video link below))

Bolsonaro had a similar "assassination attempt" in 2018 that, until today, nobody can prove if it was an actual attempt, an planned move or (more beliavable to me given how stupid they are) an planned move that went wrong last minute and he indeed got stabbed in the belly.

There was a lot of weird things around like the lack of blood in the knife, the fact that the "murderer" got some really good lawyers who managed to shut down the case which is even weirder because, given how bolsonaro is vindictive, he would totally go scorched earth on that dude if the crime was real.

Yet, the video footage is at least an "believable" assassination attempt. And by that, I mean more believable than what Trump did.

    Here is the video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J6yRmvqQzE

Bolsonaro even went to hospital right after that, which makes hard to believe it's not real, but, at the same time, it is expected that all that was a facade back then.

  • as far as I know, Debian is the "gold standard" for stable linux to the point of being one of the most famous distros used on servers as well.

Exceptions are using unstable/testing versions of debian or accounting for an windows program to just work perfectly under wine (but that is a microsoft-linux integration which MS almost always wants to not happen)

  • Good time to remind there exist two "models" of economy:

Commodity- Money- Commodity (where money is used for the sole purpose of getting commodities like house, food, clothes, healthcare, ...)

Money-Commodity-Money (Where the purpose of money is to turn commodities in more money, so the end goal is getting more money).

The first one is okay. Humans always did it.

The second one is a disease that starter with what we call "nowadays" Capitalism.

I'm saying that because I see on real life a lot of people conflating the two and thinking that "ending capitalism"=="ending comerce/trade/barter" when the truth is that "ending capitalism"=="ending hoarding wealth like a dragon"

  • Ei seu caralhudo!

Use the original meme of Nazaré Tedesco (Senhora do Destino)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7QA0ogagEc

Or else we will make you come to Brazil and have 100% free healthcare and free public school/grad school!

Also we will make you watch "novelas" (brazilian drama) like Kubanacan and O Beijo do Vampiro!

  • Sorry, excuse me for making this comment, but I kinda think that the user Goodeye8 was agreeing with you since the start.

    Anyways I wish you well.

  • I hope you are right, but my highest fear is that Trump isn't pusshing bills through congress.

by that, I ean the congress is in control and want to pass such bills without loss of face.

Then who better than trump (or whatever president) to autopen everything thatwas handled by a middle man, then make a show of "How Trump is bad and bullying us! Bwaaahhh!!!" and then just let the bill pass because that was the plan from the begining.

But again, I really hope that I am wrong and spurting some tin-foil hat nonsense.

  • Either that or he will think someones wishes him to get corona virus.

  • There is this video analysis which, while taking pewdiepie as a major example, it is about the online-gamer-manosphere-trolls pipeline that leads into weird shit:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnmRYRRDbuw

It is in no way recent news about him, but some of the issues aound his past is somewhat related with what is exposed in this video.

  • What about Putin and Trump working together the rhetoric of nuclear deterrence?

IIRC, Russia+USA = 90% of all nuclear weapons in the world.

A big whammy hammer if they (hypothetically) fight together.

  • WHAT DID YOU SAY???

    LUIGIDATE MUSK??

  • Remember that writing is also for processing (emotionally) the shit that is going on.

I know it is your work and you do with it what you want.

Even then I want to suggest just to write your voice against what is happening today in whatever way you want.

It may be in the style you imagined or you may just shelve this particular style for a while.

But writers are always needed to shout the voice of those who "can't do so by themselves"

  • This is the kind of “I want my worldview reassured so I will ignore the context” behaviour that I see a lot on the right. The more I am on Lemmy, the more I see this same aporach.

Warning for everyone else: This "both sides" thing is a typical tactic used by alt-right (and even fascists)to muddy the water, making us questioning if we should punch up or down.

Yes, there are some cases where "both sides" talk may make sense.

But what determines if it makes sense or not is the following question:

"Is the criticism against punching up or is it a criticism against punching down?"

"Punching up" means punching the privileged elites (example: talking bad of shareholders for making our lives worse)

Punching down is what this comment is doing, which is making excuses for harmful behavior against a minority (Remember that human's right are a right for any and every person)

So, remember, just like with comedy, NEVER punch down (never make the oppressed lives worser)

Do Punch Up! (Make the oppressors lose their grip)

  • I hope it isn't like the similarly named subreddit where the moderator was against calling Elon's salute for what it was.

I'll be honest and a bit jaded, These "uplifting" comunities do feel a bit like the "this is fine" meme (https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/this-is-fine)

Not that I am against uplifting news. I'm just cautious because I've seen a fair share of nazi dogwhistle associated with this idea.

  • Be careful that anti-theism may e as harmful as any fundamentalist religion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3D4tMVaO7k

What I think is not that we should "abolish" religion (granted that I know you did not propose that. I'm just extrapolating from "religion is a plague")

I think we should move to exploring different religions without holding any of them as superior to the other, or at least not judging before reading a it more on your own accord and desire.

Someone pointed about issues on buddhism, which are true issues.

But eastern religions take from buddhism, taoism and confucionism religions and it is not uncommon to take a few different takes from each one of these as one goes in their own studies.

Same way, I think the rise of pagan religions would be useful to have the idea of being exposed to different concepts of religious ideas

Or similarly, different philosophical ideas, like reading from plato, but also from hume, but also from descartes, but also from....

As long as one doesn't stay stagnant on the same philosophical pool, there is no harm browsing (with sufficient care) other ideas.

  • At this point, I think we should invite back hexbear tankies to roll over the conservatives and "centrist" in .world

I'm half joking, but there may be some truth in that.
