Neovim is a rewrite of the vim project. From a high level (or from the perspective of a beginner to both), there’s not much difference between the two. That is, basic usage will be the same regardless of which ones you choose. Like, the model philosophy and default key bindings are basically identical.
You start seeing major differences with more advanced usage and under the hood.
Neovim is built to support async processing, while Vim is entirely synchronous
Neovim offers native Language Server support while Vim requires plugins to do so. (Language Server Protocol is part of what makes VSCode so powerful)
Vim plugins are written with a custom script called “vimscript” while Neovim plugins are written in Lua but also supports vimscript.
There are more differences, but this should cover the basic differences. I haven’t used neovim in an age, so I’m up for any corrections if anyone has any
A TV Show (or cartoon) based around Among Us, feels like they missed the boat on Among Us popularity.
Then again, I loved Infinity Train, wish the show wasn’t cut short by Zaslav’s budget cuts. I could see Among Us being similar to The Thing (one of my favorite horror movies), i think there’s a chance it’s a good show
I have such mixed feelings about this. The show ended in such a perfect way (as it did the prior the times), but more Futurama is more Futurama
Fugitive is a common git plugin for Vim. If you’re not using vim, not much to check out. If you are, highly recommend it!
Totally. I know it’s not a popular opinion, but I really enjoyed The Matrix 4 for this reason.
The movie had some significant issues (wtf was that Merovingian fight?), but I loved the world building both in the matrix and in the real world.
Thank you. I’ve found one of the communities with the search functionality.
You’re awesome tho!
When I read Hitchhiker’s Guide, I pronounced it b’tell-jew-EEss
There’s a thought that:
Never make fun of people for mispronouncing a word. It means they learned it by reading
Best I understand, this is a quote without a known attribution
Action games and adventure games used to be two separate genres, but their similarities caused people writing magazine articles to group them together, under a single term “action-adventure”. You can think of it as “either or”, rather than some weird neologism
Thinking about it, i think you’re right.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but didn’t it “okay things safe”, just retread many of the same plot beats while making relatively superficial changes?
I totally get not wanting too critical on movies, especially when you’re involved in the process yourself.
Haha, i guess that means you didn’t care for it, if it sparked that particular conversation
Also Port Wines. It’s what we got into before started falling into the Whiskey rabbit hole
Whisk(e)y drinker here, preferring neat. I like all types, especially if they are sherry-finished.
I like too many for a concise list.
I think Stranahan’s is the best bottle most people sleep on. It’s a Single Malt made in the US, so most Scotch drinkers dismiss it because “it’s not made in Scotland”, but most American drinkers are looking more for Rye and Bourbon flavors. It’s just delicious imo
Ardbeg Wee Beastie is another favorite. Peated Scotches aren’t for everyone, but I think it has a great “campfire” quality
Navazos Palazzi is a Spanish whiskey that we really like, and it’s one i never recommend to beginners. It’s harsh and sweet, but somehow it works. I’ve heard it described as “maple cookie covered in fresh pavement”, although I think it evokes more of that cut up tire that you can find on some playgrounds. It’s basically “fuck you” in a glass, in the best possible way
For cocktails, i always go for Coke and Makers, with some grenadine.
I had to look a list of prequels, since I was having trouble just remembering some.
Might not be the greatest, but I remember really liking Rouge One
Cruella was a blast, but I could see people arguing that the main character was a completely different person than who was in the 101 Dalmations
The Thing (2011) did a good job, with some criticisms (over use of CGI). It was never going to be as great as the original, but I still enjoyed it
Good to hear. So many people have written off Elemental, saying the trailer makes it look generic, like Pixar has lost their touch. Thing is, Disney and Pixar have a recent history of making boring or generic trailers, only for the movies to be great.
Unless it was met with poor critical reception, i would probably see it anyway
Edgar Wright is a really good choice. He has such a distinctive style, lots of hits in his filmography
I haven’t seen some of his earlier movies, but Denis Villeneuve has made some of my favorite recent movies, including Arrival
I also am a huge fan of the Wachowskis, loved Cloud Atlas, Sense8, and Speed Racer. Only movie i didn’t really enjoy was Jupiter Ascending, but even then, there were aspects i still liked
Asteroid City, The Blackening, and Elemental are the three big movies in theaters i want to see, but I won’t have a chance to until next week.
My great, great uncle was Gene Krupa, a popular/influential swing drummer in the 1920s through 1940s. By contrast, i have absolutely zero musical talent.
My third cousin, once removed (that is, my father’s third cousin) is Mike Shanahan, the former head coach for the Denver Broncos
Not a family relation, but someone famous I know… I taught a Roller Derby clinic alongside Erin Jackson, who won the Gold Metal at the most recent Olympics in speed skating
Honestly, I put little stock into these relationships. They’re little more than personal trivia at this point
I think the concept is intuitive and interesting, but the implementation/interface isn’t.
