  • Yes, although it has nothing to do with communism and everything to do with dictatorship, ultra nationalism and the strongman image.

  • Yes, because everyone has different needs. Even blender, which has gone far and beyond most graphical software, would be a no-go for someone because of one or two specifics.

Again, I firmly believe in OSS, but I don't see how porting more professional software hurts the community or freedom effort, when our biggest hurdle is adoption. Missing things people need is a barriers of entry. Missing things a workplace needs is an automatic loss.

  • It's not just about quality, there's a lot missing or honestly plain worse in gimp for example, compared to affinity photo. I'm as big a proponent of OSS as any, it's just that software isn't there yet.

What's more, the target audience for that product are usually people who've had their chance encounter with programming and have decided against doing it. My anecdotal experience obviously. Edit: I mean it's unlikely they will contribute to features

  • As opposed to images on the internet... XD

If anything it would actually take more effort to replicate a physical stamp now that I think about it.

  • Software engineer here, can confirm I've never received anything by post in my life, it's always couriers. My assumption is that post stamps are boomer NFTs.

  • Controlling what people say equals controlling what people think

  • They do use the same pass though, that's why it's so strange to me. Thanks for the help, this at least gives me a clue.

I'll dig around and update the post for reference.

  • Right. Wouldn't it make sense to unlock it along with my root drive when I log in though? There should be a way to do that

  • You don't win by them just losing some money. Redistribution is the name of the game. Even if Tesla hits 0/share, you aren't getting any more wealth just by virtue of that happening.

...Aside from basking in the downfall of a nazi of course, but those are priceless things.

  • Linux @lemmy.ml

New SSD requires password to mount

  • Save the puppies act! If we don't know what exactly you say while pounding your wife, how could we possibly hope to save your dear pup, which I promise you did not consent to a threesome?!

And eeevery body loves puppies, no one will object to that. In case you do, you'd be suspected in zoophilia by the way, so don't do it!

  • The sarcasm here would be lost on so many people...

  • That's how subscription services get you. Why buy DVDs when you can stream all day long on Netflix? Suddenly, DVDs are no longer for sale and streaming services take down content for one reason or another. Then you have no other legal alternative but to pay whatever they ask, be shown whatever they want and continue to own none of it.

  • Thinking that individual European countries have local identities and states or others don’t is absolutely a lack of understanding and not a lack of context.

That's not at all what I said. It's in fact the opposite and because of that I said I can't argue with most of your previous points.

On your latter point, I do lack some understanding on the native reservations, but as far as I know they're still under the governance of the US to some extent. My assumption was they can at least participate in the 'democracy' which affects them immensely. It's very sad that's not the case...

  • I can't and don't want to argue with your point, however in the faceless internet space unless you specify you speak from the name of a specific subgroup, the blanket 'American' is implied. It's not a lack of understanding, it's a lack of context.

Contrary to that Europe doesn't have one cohesive identity, your example of Orban is multiple country borders removed from me personally. I don't have the power to vote for/against him or influence that country in any way, where that's different in your case.

  • The instances are structured much like discord, in that you have a separate server for topics/communities. Think of them as servers that can talk to each other. Instead of subreddits you have this.

Regarding Reddit (US company), well, depending on your values and political views, you might see the need and have the desire to not depend on/support the platform.

  • In what way exactly is the current administration better?
