  • Hahaha.

If you don't know about this, it's interesting too, if you go to the "authentication screen (SDDM)", you can set your configs to your login screen too, like themes, icon themes, this keyboard config.

  • At the keyboard section, "turn on numlock on startup" (something like this, I use in the portuguese language)

  • Some things in my mind:

    • Use an easy to use distro with the software you want it to run (the software that sometimes isn't in your distro repositories and you may need to take some more advanced steps to use) and good documentation, ubuntu based distros like mint or arch based distros like cachyos (in my opinion, cachyos is the new best distro for beginners, as it has the best software library, configs, documentation (their specific documentation on the website together with the arch wiki) and gaming packages)
    • For your desktop environment, choose on what you are accostumed to and on what you want to do with it, Gnome is very polished and has good touch features that are missing in every other DE, KDE is very desktop centric and can be tuned (should be tuned sometimes, like with numlock when starting the pc), etc
    • For games, steam, heroic game launcher and lutris are very good suggestions, each has its use case. A local wine prefix with all the windows configs (vcredist and .net runtimes) and dxvk, and vkd3d-proton, are good to have, sometimes you want to play some games that aren't on the official stores. Always check protondb for compatibility and solutions
    • For photoshop, you can pirate it (there are some github repos and youtube videos showing how to do it, but it has some bugs), or you can replace it, like with photogimp (interface changes, extra filters, etc) for gimp, krita, blender, etc, for video editing, there's davinci resolve, the free version, the paid version and the pirated version
    • Always use libreoffice, not openoffice
  • Is dxvk and vkd3d enabled in lutris? Maybe bottles will help you if it doesn't work in lutris. Protondb might be good to see too.

Edit: just saw this, there's a wine DLL override that might fix the game (in lutris you can config it on the wine configs) dinput8.dll=n,b .

  • The prefix is where the "windows" system is, the default is a .wine folder on your home folder (if i'm correct), if you enable seeing hidden directories and files it will show.

  • What game are you trying to run? And can you test installing the packages (the .net runtimes and the vcredist) using a wine-staging from lutris and running the game with the wine-staging? You can install it from the download, on the Wine section on the left of lutris.

  • Install an all in one packages (visual c++, etc) (or this for .net too) into your wine prefix and run the repacks (like fitgirl or dodi) like in windows.

Put dxvk and vkd3d-proton on your wineprefix (automated like with cachyos or manually downloaded) and maybe create a lutris application to just select the exe to install the game.

    Edit: Also jc141

Edit 2: Added one link for the .net ones, run the wine cmd for these packages and they autoinstall all the gaming dependencies, so you can install almost any games. Also, you can install dependencies (like those needed by some games like skyrim) using winetricks.

    Edit 3: Updated the link

  • Majority of people didn't want him and don't want him again, like with Trump, but only one of them got reelected.

  • Here in Brazil, one person means one vote, no districting, no gerrymandering, none of this things, one vote for the president is one vote, one vote for your state senator is one vote, one vote for your deputy is one vote for them and their party (in this part it's weird, but makes sense that the politician also represents their party, but creates effects like "party gerrymandering").

Bolsonaro went into house arrest yesterday, so this could mean something.

  • Yes, from my personal experience:

    It'll be a lot faster.

Edit: there's ollama-cuda on the repos and alpaca-ai on the AUR, but I changed from the self managed to use the local ollama server. For games, there's lutris, wine-cachyos, proton-cachyos, dxvk-mingw-git and vkd3d-proton-mingw-git all on the repos, so dxvk and vkd3d (the translation layers from directx to vulkan) are updated when the system is updated, but need to be installed with the provided scripts to work automagically after that.

  • If the US used something like pix, MasterCard, visa, etc, wouldn't have any power to do this, but they want to make Brazil delete pix from existence. Interesting.

    Edit: grammar

  • As Bolsonaro got cited in the Trump post, he should be tariffed too, by death by firing squad. Idk, seems a good idea hehe.

  • Zram is good, i would use lz4 as a compression method, it uses a lot less CPU than zstd and compression makes it around 50% bigger than compressed using zstd (50% compression vs 33% compression on zstd). So on CPU bound scenarios, it holds better than on zstd in my opinion. Same on btrfs, it feels a lot faster on lzo than on zstd.
