  • Not for decades. Only very, very recently have they gotten any appreciable press because Trumps admin fucked this up so badly.

  • That or something like it is literally part of the EU demand. Google has to pay the fine and tell them their next step to ending their conflicts of interest in 60 days.

  • Openai has an "at cost" azure deal with Microsoft. They don't make any azure money from them.

This feels like a mix of "keep the bubble moving somehow" hype and a shot across the bow at Microsoft, who are in a nasty back and forth with Openai right now because openai wants to break its early deals with Microsoft to go fully for profit to get a large amount of funds from Softbank. Microsoft isn't okay with that, as it would cost them exclusivity to Openais tech and various other things.

  • It was the most wishlisted game on steam ever, priced at a very reasonable $20, and it released today after a 6 year wait with almost no press before the last couple of weeks. All the press it did receive was about how the devs were just having a good time, which was insanely endearing.

It's basically the ultimate indie darling at this point. I 100% believe it could crash all the platforms above.

  • If you're sure you're going to make $1,000,000,000,000,000 as long as you hold onto 10000 pieces of paper, selling them for way, way less than that is very stupid. Even if it's generational wealth, it's still very stupid.

Most of the openai share owners are already millionares, either via the high salaries or whatever. To have people like altman, a billionaire, sell "trillionare" shares for mere millions of even hundreds of millions strongly implies a need to cash put at the top of the bubble, put those hundreds of millions in your hyped up pocket, and let the rubes hold the bag.

The other part of this is the marketing. It may very well be the biggest IPO ever, which will be splashy and loud and keep the bubble going longer, which is exactly something you want if you have no substance to show instead.

  • Why? Seems perfectly reasonable to me. What's the "correct" cut off for inclusion in a mountain range for a state?

Seems like an arbitrary thing to say that California can't be in Cascadia because only 190 of a 760 mile state have the mountain range in it.

  • Nah, theil is a deeper evil. He's been putting his paypal and facebook billions to spin up the altright pipeline for literal decades.

He quietly funds all sorts of institutes and influencers and silicon valley wonks and founders that gin up most of the nasty shit we interact with now, all to feed his dream of libertarian kingdoms where ownership is governance, where the only right people have is to leave. He is literally a monarchist, and views himself as a king in waiting.

Hes not just a loudmouth idiot like Musk, who splashes money around wildly. Hes more of a Rasputin, the power behind the crown, and hes been very successful at it. Hes someone who coordinates evil, sets it in motion and keeps it building.

  • The guy that immediately cancelled the long running pride event right after starting there?

Sure, sure. He just wants to let things be.

  • Looks like every game is in the 70% ratings for this one. Meh to the max for me.

Personally, this one is my "jump off the bandwagon" month. Time to cancel that increasingly expensive subscription.

  • Looks good on piefed + summit.

  • Getting good things for bad reasons is about the best we can hope for right now.

    Lets take it.

  • The jury basically did exactly that. They weren't buying Tesla's multi-year denial that they had the data as an "oopsy doopsy" story.

They found Tesla liable for $235 million. It's the first case Tesla hasent been able to settle, and that's a big ol' number. They are going to have more lawsuits coming.

  • Looks like a fun time. Raw fury publishing is a good sign.

  • He has not. The whitehouse said she was fired, but that's not what the law says. The president has to directly fire her, himself.

They did assign an interim director, but he still hasent directly fired her, so shes still the director.

  • Nah, this is feeding the MAGA base. They have been ginning up conspiracies about her death since it happened, pushed by fox news/Tucker Carlson. They needed to find an excuse for one of their zealots being rightfully killed that day, in order to downplay the whole insurrection.

Her mom has kept the conspiracies alive, and conniving politicians have gone along with it because the media engine gives them a boost with the fanatics

This is just the latest example. MAGA can now go "see! She didn't deserve to be shot! even though the air force says so!"

  • Did the feds charge the other people caught in the same sting? I'm not seeing any articles about the fed vs state charges.
