  • World was the first game that I played through, and my biggest complaint at the time was the commitment to animation. Movement seemed slow, so I stuck with incest glaive as a workaround to my lack of positional knowledge. Once I tried aerial hammer in Generations Ultimate, it was all over. I’ve been a big bonk main ever since, through GU, Iceborne, Rise, Sunbreak, and 4U. Great sword is now second place of usage, picked up for those tail breaks. It’s funny looking back at my initial complaints about positioning and animation commitment, when my two favorite weapons ended up being the most reliant on those two points. Knowing the specific monster’s fight really helped. In GU I fought Tetsucabra a good 30 times after picking up hammer, because he was so fun to anticipate his jumps in order to land those big smacks to the face.
