  • You absolutely missed everything, the moon is fake literally… when you take a picture of the moon your camera uses AI photo manipulation to change your garage picture to a completely Ai generated image because taking pictures of the moon is actually pretty difficult so it makes pictures look much better and in %99 of cases it is better but in edge cases like trying to take a picture of something flying in front of the moon like the ISS or a cloud it is not, also it may cause issues if you try to introduce your photos in court because everything you take is inherently doctored.

Certain unnamed companies coughgoogle doesn’t like to trust Let Encrypt its definitely not an abuse of an illegal monopoly they have good reasons I promise.

But the whole point behind using a signed certificate is that other people can look at you and immediately know you are who you say you are if a company doesn’t trust you it doesn’t really matter what the motivation is you might as well use a self signed certificate.

Paid certificates have the money to make sure everyone trusts them and has a reputation to maintain so are more likely to defend a legitimate complaint.

99.999% of individuals it simply doesn’t matter(although you might have to look into it if you’re using android apps) but to a company the little bit that certification costs is worth every penny.

You don’t seem to have the billionaire monopolist mindset, when you reach the level steam is at you are no longer competing for money but power, steam could be making all the money in the world but that won’t stop Microsoft from shutting them down as they have already tried to do with windows store, if steam doesn’t have its own platform they are vulnerable and beholden to Microsoft, it’s true Gabe Newell could retire anytime he wants but that only applies to him not his countless employees, if steam can’t make enough money to pay a competitive wage to hire people from Microsoft, Nintendo, Apple or Sony then they will just work for them for more money so they have to charge the %30 Steam isn’t a public company but I guarantee the vast vast majority of its profits are poured directly back into the company its always that way or other companies will outcompete and they will die.

  • Correct both are mind washed but the truth is far worse, the truth is there is no perfect system and by that I mean with a large enough system you are have to harm someone so to someone every rule law or procedure is harmful so everyone is correct the other side is evil, so the only sane thing to do is pass laws that are beneficial to ourselves of course that is incredibly selfish but and the logical thing to do from a societal perspective is do what benefits the majority, but we are not the majority we are an individual and that is what is best for us.

The only reason this will get downvoted is the majority disagrees but as an individual you know it to be true.

  • I won’t waste to much time on a generated question but businesses become monopolies by being better than others or one of the ones would have became the monopoly then when they have no competition they can get as bad as they like(NOTE: better doesn’t necessarily mean better for you it could mean better at collecting payments or better at logistics but better nonetheless)

And the fact of the matter is nobody likes competition so they all try too work around it.
