  • Most certainly off-topic, but I have found other cool workarounds for apps.

For instance, if you open 2 windows of, say, PowerPoint (1 you want to use, the other you must close after; read below). Then, go to the one you don't want to use (or at least one you use for this method), and wait for the no account/Office not bought/whatever pop up; in any case, do NOT close the pop up. Open the other PowerPoint, and then close the former. If done right, you'll be pleasantly surprised that it works perfectly! After that, you can open any additional ppt files. Do note that, after you close PowerPoint entirely, you gotta do this all over again.

  • Where’s the evidence that Russia is a profoundly worse polluter than other countries, or is this just vibes? US military is a bigger polluter than as many as 140 countries

As my theory goes, Russia is letting the Western countries do the dirty work, by manipulating elections to favour far-right movements, or at least disseminating disinformation (the latter is the dominant one, since it is much more effective). As such, they (Russia) do not really need to make those “carton villain-like polluting machines” — all they need is to talk us into doing that, with the bonus that Russia has plausible deniability.

  • And how are they “nazi”, exactly? I said I am terrified of this, not feeling terrific.

  • No, I am not an astroturfer. I have my own opinions and assumptions, just like anyone else. I have been Lemmy for some time already, have made a couple of posts, and I ain't goddamn funded by any government.

  • I am not saying that the Kremlin/FSB is doing all of these things by themselves, but rather influencing others towards that direction. Now, for each counter-argument you have posed:

    • What Hamas did in 2023-10-07 was encouraged by Russia, to destabilize that region, distract from the invasion of Ukraine, and, as I previously said, test exactly what works against the Israeli defense systems (that the West uses). They might also want to weaken Mossad to a point, because they are more powerful than they show; sanctions not being applied to Israel is not just because of the ideologies of current Western governments. And Russia definitely funds the current Israeli government, to continue this conflict AND genocide. By the way, Putin is likely holding Trump by the balls to continue this.
    • Climate change is funded and influenced by Russia. As one comment pointed out, Russia will be less affected by it. This also might mean that China and Russia are playing the “enemy of my enemy” game.
    • “AI” is an obsession, but Russia definitely encourages the techbros — it uses up a lot of energy & water, so of course Russis will be incentivizing Western companies to do so.

Yes, a lot of this is caused by capitalism and imperialism, but Russia is also capitalist and imperialist. In fact, they know it so well, that they are targeting the weakest links first.

  • What Russia is doing? Definitely.

Russia & China are destroying us, openly, and we haven't done anything about it

  • Ya, and he is old guard PSD, not like the totally not incompetent and Trump-like Montenegro, our amazing prime minister that was spending time on the beach, having fun, while our country was burning.

  • You may be saying “we've known this all along”, but remember: this is Portugal's top diplomat; it takes a lot of guts to say this, considering that Trump is especially vindictive. Also, Marcelo has already won a handshake battle (video in Portuguese) against Trump in 2017, LOL.

  • Oh my god… This is one of the best blogs I have EVER seen. I added it to my RSS feed right after reading that post.

  • If there is an emergency the school refuses to report (or worse; them creating a situation), that is not the case.

  • If the internet disappears or you lose access to it for some reason, you can still see your photos.

  • They own assets. Take away those assets, they lose their “leverage”.

  • Yes, I know. But, while trying to find a way to bomb the AI datacenters (/s, hopefully it doesn't come to this), we can stall their attacks.

  • Yep! That was exactly the protocol on my mind. One thing, though, is that the Fediverse would need to be ported to Gemini, or at least for a new protocol to be created for Gemini.

  • I know this is the most ridiculous idea, but we need to pack our bags and make a new internet protocol, to separate us from the rest, at least for a while. Either way, most “modern” internet things (looking at you, JavaScript) are not modern at all, and starting over might help more than any of us could imagine.

  • Yes, but a temporary mirror would still be great.

  • I mean, isn't there Codeberg? I assume they could at least mirror their repository to there.

  • It improves your mouse control (raw aim) by finding and isolating weaknesses, then forcing you to repeat mistakes over and over again. With carefully made scenarios and constant + thoughtful practice, this can improve your improvement pace significantly.
