Yes. Things feel out-of-balance without it to me. However, if the meaning is unclear (something something stripping Hitler and Stalin), I will work around it and/or use other punctuation. I think I have a bit of a weird synesthesia thing going on for written text (English or written code (in the programming sense); I don’t have it as much in the other languages I read/write, but it isn’t absent there, either).

For the Koreans I met who moved to Japan, the work culture can be less bad, as can be working at certain companies despite where they graduated from. My sample size is small, though, and I am neither Japanese nor Korean.

At my buddy’s house, he had a game called something like ‘wings of glory’ that was meant for an older clock speed. We were messing with the turbo button and it quickly became unplayable when not in the slower mode.

I remember reading an early-2000s book on game dev. It did mention that some game (I want to say one of the Unreal games, but I can’t recall for sure) had to code their level loading in assembler because it was taking upwards of 10 minutes in C++.

Yeah, I definitely think the OP has super rose-colored glasses on. The free shareware was pretty awesome, though. I had one called “80 mega-hits” or something like that with a ton of games (many of which my poor old PC couldn’t run).

I do think that optimization has slacked off more as hardware prices generally trended down. Disk space I don’t so much mind, but memory and CPU are still expensive.

I oppose the death penalty in very nearly every circumstance. I think that prisons should be more about rehabilitation that just brutish punishment (but the punishment exists at least in part to avoid extra-judicial attacks by the victims who feel the perpatrator was not justly punished). Some people, of course, cannot be rehabilitated and, in that case, I would lean toward life in prison.

I use unsalted butter and mostly keep it un-refrigerated without issue. In the summer, I do have to move it somewhere cooler. Keeping oxygen out is important.

there’s a youtube vid out there somewhere explaining why (a) sticks of butter are different shapes in different part of the us and (b) factories that they’re made at. I can’t remember who made it, but you might be able to find it. I had no idea US West Coast butter was different.

I had a mouse where one was vertical and the other horizontal, but I seem to think the horizontal scroll was oriented horizontally. Having googled the mouse in the picture, it says one is programmable and suggests it starts with volume.

I actually got board, got a new HDD, and got linux mint on it. It doesn’t seem to have a bootloader installed and trying to install grub2 hasn’t changed anything. I’m also pretty disappointed in game support. Maybe I’m missing something, but Steam knows it’s on linux and a huge number of games in my library just say they run on windows or windows and mac.
