  • During my first time playing it (not long ago), it was pretty obvious where new content was layered on top of old, mainly because none of it really works together all that well. It feels like there’s a lot of stuff to do, but none of it is all that cohesive

Also the building system is like pulling teeth (on console anyway). I can never get anything placed where I wanted it if my build was at all complex, particularly stairs as I can recall

  • people would rather feed another addiction (spend hours on TV and TikTok, but one hour cooking is too much)

I’d argue that people engage in these activities because people are tired from working too hard for too little for too long

  • opens new tab

the verdict "misunderstands services that are critical to the security, performance, and reliability of Android devices."

Ummmm maybe I’m misunderstanding but how on earth is opening a new tab critical to security and performance?

  • It could very well be, I’m not familiar with this product at all. It does come to my attention that the statue of liberty’s torch is the most prominent visual element on the page; combined with the block of text and the name of the phone itself I could definitely see where the poster is coming from, it gives off a nationalist air despite it being fairly reserved/neutral in its visual language. It kinda makes me think the purism name was no coincidence but I’d like to think otherwise

  • The URL being puri.sm was what I noticed first

  • It’s strange to think about how complicit the public has become with this. You mean to tell me that 185 separate connections to other companies are required for me to… read an article?

  • I’m not very well read on this so I could very well be off-base, but couldn’t you leverage the heat as a means to desalinate saltwater instead of using freshwater and letting it evaporate into the atmosphere?

  • I definitely need to spend some more time on there. I’ll admit I’ve been dismissive of their library, partially because of it being tied up with Google, but also because I tend to recognize their fonts in a lot of different places while I’ve always been able to dig up well-crafted niche typefaces on Adobe that suit my design applications

  • Opensource @programming.dev

    Open-source fonts?

  • The thing that's mostly wrong with AI summaries is that people don't click through to the page the summary summarizes. So those sites don't get ad revenue.

Don’t ad blockers have a similar effect?

  • Not long ago I tried to log in for the first time in a year or two, and I was stopped by a big long TOS agreement that promptly made me switch to another game

  • Those damn corners weren’t round enough yet, thanks Apple designers👍

  • Gotcha, when I read Lego fan made game I was half expecting something like Brickadia

  • OOTL, which one?

  • I’m a designer and I never thought of how it influences typos, that’s a neat tidbit

  • Gif compression definitely makes it look more believable, I remember falling for this the first time I saw it

  • Also doors and gates

They may also have concluded that the public finds a humanoid robot more acceptable than those cube 4-wheeled robots that never took off that people like to tip and kick over and stuff

  • Might be a silly question, but is YouTube TV considered a part of YouTube here?

  • Same here, Malcom X practically read like a footnote to me when I was taught by my school
