  • You may find a better answer in the distinction between "profit" and "exploit".

Does GPL allow a corporation to profit off your work? Yes it does.

Does it allow them to exploit your work? In my opinion, no.

Compared to something like MIT which in my opinion lets them both profit and exploit you.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer by any means, just a GPL advocate.

  • Fuck :/

Yeah... I would also love to blame Monsanto but from what I understand it's basically impossible to definitively say what caused someone's cancer specifically.

It's just the first instinct when I hear their name and "cancer" in the same sentence.

One thing we can be sure of is cancer sucks and anything we can do as a species to understand it better is more than worth the effort.

  • Monsanto

    Cancer

    Hmm. Seems possibly related.

Very sorry to hear about your uncle.

  • Piracy isn't stealing regardless.

Stealing is to deprive someone of something they posses.

It's not possible to possess something that doesn't exist yet. Your copy doesn't exist until you make it (by downloading the file).

If you chose to not support creators by paying to copy thier work, that's maybe unethical but it's not stealing.

If you hack into a Sony server and copy an unreleased film, then delete their copy, that is maybe stealing. Anything short of that is just copying.

  • IMO support indie creators when you can. Aside from that, ahoy!

  • I'm looking on behalf of my partner so I'm not 100% sure the podcasts they want are American but they are English for sure.

  • Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ @lemmy.dbzer0.com

    Pirating podcasts?

  • TIL musk is doing 1/8th of the labor for the entire company.

What the actual fuck is wrong with people?

  • Of course they didn't

  • personality

    Wat

  • Mods are always the actual dumbest most power tripping little fuckers. (InB4 banned from this com)

Edit: This is actually just straight up racist / xenophobic the more I think about it.

  • Just launch the game from steam

  • The goal seems to be to control the internet like they've been controlling television and news.

  • Vegas is so cooked.

Another thing harming tourism is the heat for sure. Very regularly over 110f in the summer and there is no shade at all on the strip. The actual concrete temp is easily hitting 120f.

Not to mention the city actually smells OF (not like) human shit. The sewers were never built to handle this many people and it's not a problem anyone is willing to address or acknowledge.

  • Who gives out the permits?

  • What protests?

  • Holy fuck that was so much worse than I imagined.

  • equivalent to reading a teen's journal and invading its privacy.

IMO people should not be putting such personal information into an LLM that's not running on their local machine.

  • Hmm, that's really interesting.

I wonder if there is actually any precedent at all for this being enforced?

  • This is a "code", not the law.

Edit: I guess it is the "law" for whatever that's worth these days.
