Being honest isn’t discouraging, it’s not being infantilizing.

So you just think the temple should have asked for more? I don’t think that’s what they’re in it for.
I feel the same way. I put off purchases for a looong time. My biggest example is using my bed, household furniture in gerry-rigged ways instead of buying a weight bench for $200 for a couple of years. I don’t like accumulating too many things, and it is often true that you can do without buying a specialized item.
I think I am moving through this mentality a bit though, if there is a tool that will fundamentally improve my life in tangible ways, I try not to hesitate to buy it, because these kinds of things can make me more willing to actually do stuff. Most recent example for me is buying a thick kitchen apron, so my clothes don’t get wet when I’m washing dishes. Hate the feeling, but it inevitably happens, so then I would end up avoiding dishes.
Other things though, I have pretty cheap guitars and it’s fine because I’m not very good at guitar anyway. I don’t feel a need to buy lots of gear, but bought things for specific tasks like “I want to play standing up” so I got a mic stand.
I think you can have this utilitarian approach to purchases simultaneously with an anti consumption mindset.
Should they … not be payed for their labor?
Why are you linking Roberts Rules of Order 😂
So the rule suspending the filibuster would be written into the bill that isn’t passed yet? I feel like I’m not quite getting it … I’m confused about how the suspension works.
What does “suspend the filibuster” mean? Like people won’t be able to filibuster anymore?
edit: I know what the filibuster is … I’m curious about the suspension piece.
I’m not a zoomer, like I said, I’m explaining my observations.
Did I ask?
I’m talking about how a demographic is receiving certain messaging.
my unhinged stranger in Christ, you brought up woman’s suffrage
“trump is literally the next Hitler guys”
“great so we don’t even need a time machine”
“oh not like that though”
👀
Thanks for hearing me out
I’m not even Gen Z, I’m young millennial.
But also. Uhm. I don’t think that leftists were restricting voting rights. You’re coming across a lil like, Q-anon, chronically online here.
But yeah, telling people to shut up is exactly why people are like. Hm. Why support the party of “shut up”?
Don’t lie, don’t be act aloof towards people you think are on your side, and don’t call people Trump sympathizers for having criticisms of Biden. There are people trying to downplay the ongoing harms going on under the Biden administration, and in general under the United States government. Be honest about strategy, and join in on demands that Democrats do better whether or not you plan to vote Biden. Maybe call for a better candidate.
edit: and downvotes for advocating honesty. I’d pretend I were surprised but that would be hypocritical and unbelievable.
Don’t know what you’re trying to do here. Saying this isn’t going to change the fact that the brow-beating rhetoric is alienating young and left-leaning voters.
Maybe my claims seem logically inconsistent to you because you are deliberately misrepresenting them to be so.
Weird how you have never once responded to any of the evidence I use to support the idea that the US is already very fascist.
No comment on slavery, concentration camps… here’s another one: perpetual war, militarized police, voter suppression?
What word would you use to describe a political system that has legalized slavery embedded in its constitution?
Yes, that is their argument. Vote for Biden or else Nazi-Trump. And my comment was about how that argument is being recieved. Glad you’ve caught up.
You’re being pretty disingenuous right now. I am telling you how this messaging is being received. The spaces I’m in on tiktok/instagram lean younger/more left than this site. The overwhelming response to this kind of rhetoric is frustration with this kind of messaging, which, has been at the forefront in several consecutive election cycles at this point. You can keep doing it, but it’s just alienating people and giving off the message that there is no room for discussion amongst committed Democrats. An election is not going to be won by only appealing to moderate Democrats, and moderate Democrats are the only people who will be influenced by this kind of messaging.
The response to my comment alone proves my point. Nobody is engaging with it, everyone is just like … well everyone should just vote for Biden because blah blah blah but not addressing the impact of this rhetoric, which I have explained, or the concerns amongst people not interested in voting for Biden.
You’re mad at me for saying the United States is fascist, you should be mad at the United States for being fascist.
What other word would you use to describe a country with legalized slavery and concentration camps?
No, but also essentially yes
