One of my favorite horror movies of the '10s, pairs well with The Guest for a double feature. Also not to dox myself too much but a bunch of shots were from the neighborhood I grew up in so it added a bit of nostalgia and uneasiness to the viewings I enjoyed.
For anyone looking for some more pulp shlock type movies check out Neil Breen, Uwe Boll, and the movies rifftrax and mystery science theater 3000 use.
For more horror b movies check out Joe Bob Briggs & Darcy, they've got the old late night monster movie bumpers and intro talking about behind the scenes industry stuff and low budget movies, they did a tribute to Roger Corman after he died.
Dr attempting to call United to get a necessary procedure claim approved, getting handed off to a Dr who will not identify themselves by name nor NPI not familiar with current state of care denied:
United's violence against their customers denying necessary, doctor advised medical care they paid premiums for is inspiring towards more violence, let's not start the wheel halfway already turned
I think you're right, it reminded me of watching Dark Shadows and other similarly written and shot old soap opera reruns with my grandma. But it's really closer to the horror anthology single creator style like the influences you mentioned. There's an in-character commentary track too that's pretty good
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace: '80s BBC horror drama satire from the early '00s, and I think it used to be more popular but has fallen out of the zeitgeist just based on its age, space ghost: coast to coast.
Depends which d&d alignment you're shooting for but I think empathy is necessary for ethics and moral reasoning. Reciprocity is a good moderator to prevent being a door mat, treat people how they treat you.
I switched from using paper notebooks to take lecture notes to using a computer for most classes around 2nd year of college and it was about the same. I mostly used the notes for spaced repetition when going over the material again a week or so after the lecture and helped keep my focus on the material during the lectures. It's also easier to share notes with a study group if they're already digital.
Not surprising considering the commonalities between cult leaders and fascist dictators. "Us" in group vs scapegoat "them" out group degenerates of the week, calling themselves family to distance from biological families and social support, hierarchy with an unquestionable leader on top, love me or suffer my wrath, etc. Even the way they talk from the pulpit or podium, no justification for any claims, just vibes and biases exploiting.
