  • If this were true Trump wouldn't be able to shut up about it. He'd spin it the same way Johnson did, that he "heard a rumor" and notified the FBI. But all of Trump's behavior is about trying to suppress interest in the case, so there's something very bad in there for him and it's not money laundering. His base doesn't give a shit about money laundering.

So either he actually did notify the FBI but there's also direct evidence he participated in rape of underage girls and was somehow granted immunity, or this is just yet another trial balloon by his supporters to try to present him as some kind of avenging hero.

    My bet is the latter.

  • Timecop, the Van Damme movie, predicted a future US would have a White Nationalist Party. But they only predicted it would get 5% of the vote.

I've decided to stop referring to them as Republicans. From now on I'm just referring to them as Confederates. There's no distinction whatsoever between the two. Their goal is a 21st century CSA.

  • The Department of Homeland Security issued a formal rebuke of CBS that accused the program of leaving out key comments by Ms. Noem, including a variety of disparaging descriptions of Mr. Garcia, some of which have been disputed.

This is all just because she wasn't platformed to spread her lies and hate.

  • My understanding is that these vials have like 24 hours after being opened before they expire. So they need enough appointments lined up in a day or it goes to waste. That might explain some of the randomness.

  • Good point. I updated my comment.

  • I have no problem with someone being rich. But like $10 million rich. Not rich enough to destabilize an entire country.

  • Covid spreads, my guy.

  • I live in Oregon. I talked to a doctor today about it. Here are the latest rules, as of this week:

You need a prescription. It seems like insurance will cover you if you're over 65, or probably if you have a qualifying comorbidity... maybe. There are still unknowns.

Everyone else will pay $400, out of pocket.

  • They made it pretty clear that consumers don't deserve protection when they all but eliminated the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

  • Just billionaires doing billionaire things.

Time to eliminate all billionaires, either through taxation or other means.

  • It would likely cost billions of dollars to change the names of hundreds of Pentagon agencies, their stationary, emblems, plaques and other signage at the Defense Department, along with bases around the world.

    Cool?

  • Thanks. In that case I suspect many (not all) NA beers must exceed that threshold despite their labeling. That would match my experience, since a handful are OK and some consistently produce symptoms. It's even within the same manufacturer, as certain varieties have an effect and others don't. I love beer, but I've given up on all of them, because it's just not worth the hassle and taking the chance.

  • Sure. It's possible it's in a different form in food versus e.g. beer. I can eat all of those foods without a problem. I can't drink any of those things I listed anymore.

  • I've returned from the future and I can confidently tell you that Cuomo will be destroyed in a landslide.

  • Congrats on your sobriety!

If someone is really lucky they can develop alcohol intolerance like I did. It's a medical condition. I used to enjoy the occasional beer, red wine, bourbon, sake, whatever. I really liked them. Not to excess, except occasionally when out with friends. But it crept up on me slowly— at first the next day became harder and harder, and soon it was later that night, then within hours of having a drink or two, then while I was drinking the first glass... I thought I was just getting old, but it just kept getting worse.

Those "non-alcoholic" beers taste great these days, but they still have <0.5% alcohol. The last time I had a single NA pale ale I had a headache, brain fog, and lethargy for over 24 hours. God help me if I were to have even a lower % IPA now... I haven't tried it in years, but last time I had mild nausea and other hangover symptoms halfway through sipping it. Water, drinking extremely slowly, etc. doesn't help. My body just can't metabolize alcohol anymore.

Of course I don't feel compelled to drink in the same way an alcoholic does, but I do empathize in my own small way with their plight when going out. I want to join in, but I stick to water instead, knowing that a drink would completely wreck me and I'd regret it for days.

This is entirely unrelated to cancer, but I just thought I'd share. Maybe someone is experiencing similar symptoms but doesn't know it has a name.
