I was banned for calling out antisemitism a half year ago. They've been on this bs for a while now. And you were told right. It is considerably better here imo. Still many of the same issues, but moderation is definitely less gross and frustrating, and the people are generally more interesting and interested. Much smaller crowd, though, obviously. Welcome!
That is entirely my bad, then. Tbh I suffer from unmedicated adhd and nothing in your comment is very far off from me having a typical difficult day with that. Just didn't realize until it was pointed out to me.
On my end, I was just jovially saying "do it if it's so easy lol". Didn't actually mean to say do it so much as joke about saying it, but I saw the negative reception it took to and felt defensive. Started saying too much, as I tend to do in that position, and I am realizing that I am now still saying too much. Oops.
I don't disagree. I just dont think bullshit is going away anytime soon, and feel strongly that fooling the wealthy into forking over some of that fortune is a net positive. Like, who exactly is hurt by selling bullshit fancy water to snoots? They said it was easy, so I said do it, because why shouldn't any of us take advantage of people that build their fortunes on taking advantage of others?
Lots of things are bullshit and some of us have too much while others have too little. Everybody's gotta eat, though. And there are countless scams out there that actually cause people harm. As far as I can tell, this just isn't one of them, so I dont see a problem with the working class getting the wealthy to pay ridiculous amounts for cheap and unnecessary bullshit.
Im wrong about a lot of things, though. Maybe I'm just missing something here?
If it is so easy to do, then do it if you want the money. These people are already being swindled which means that money is already going to go to bs flavor water as is, so why not get in on it? I don't personaly have any moral dilemma with it since nobody is actually being hurt. It's just a luxury version of an everyday substance. The kind of thing that folks with more than they need are going to be spending that excess on anyway, right?
And the phrasing was in reference to the iasip episode in which Dennis runs for mayor i think it was? Charlie writes him an awful speech which ends on "so do" as in "so do your part and vote for me", but because he's illiterate, he does not actually express the full thought.
Gerrymandering is the reason I get upset when people assume all texans/southerners are hateful hicks. Lived there for years and the right/left split is pretty balanced, even leaning left on many big issues, in most of the area I've frequented. It's just that poorer areas are rigged to fail and the powers that be have been running dirty campaigns for longer than many of us have been alive.
Just this last cycle, an old friend in the area received two different mail ads for (iirc) Ted "Zodiac" Cruz. One of them was in english and the other spanish. The english one was, for the most part, "honest" (as much as these types can be called honest, I mean) about his platform, while the spanish one explicitly lied in a way that made him seem like he was trying to benefit the immigrant community. Extremely fucked up and not too uncommon, according to a few inter-generational sources. That plus how jurisdictions are divided has made it extremely difficult for the left to get any major wins for the last handful of decades+. The south is even less ruled by the people than the rest of the US and the many decent people just trying their best to survive out there get shit on for what their oppressors choose all the time.
Sorry for the rant and tbc, there are also tons of shitheads out there too. Its just not like what many outsiders assume it is, and everything about the situation pisses me off something rancid.
Not everybody on the right is a narcissist, and it helps nobody to flatten the personhood of millions of people in that way if the actual goal is positive change. It implies that there is no way to communicate or come to an understanding with any of them, which is just not how the world works and only undermines and ignores the potential many of them have to learn better. It takes types more patient than myself to reach them, but I've seen firsthand that it is entirely possible to change minds on these things. If Bernie Sanders was able to get fox news viewers to cheer for socialist ideas, then they (or at least some of them) are not so lost as to never be found.
I agree that many of them will not reconsider their siding until trouble kicks down their own doors, but I don't think giving up on people who have been fooled is actually a path toward true betterment.
Your definition of this is almost 1 to 1 an explanation of a fiction suit, actually. The only major difference is word choice; specifically choosing reality over fiction. Very interesting that you came to basically the same idea on your own, and I've got a strong feeling that you'll really dig Invisibles if you ever make the time.
And thank you for the long response! You could have just said "nah" and left it at that, so I appreciate knowing you put a little of yourself on it instead. Hope you're having a good one, stranger :)
Wormy words from a wormy excuse of a person. Love to see them turning on each other, but this is no surprise from Jones. He picks the team he thinks will carry himself to a win. Every. Time. There is no substance to this sack of shit and he'll pretend he never said any of this in the near future is my bet. Just like he always does because that is the kind of weak loser and failure that he is.
