  • Actually, it would really help if the “Block” button was right next to the username on the spam post. Having to hover over the name and wait for the modal to appear and then go click on “Block” makes it more of a nuisance. I wonder also if in the future you could choose not to display posts by user accounts less than a month old with only downvotes or who have been blocked by hundreds of people.

  • There’s something he said in that interview that felt like a hint about why he’s behaving like he doesn’t give a damn anymore.

“For a while there I was like really getting demotivated and losing sleep over the sort of the threat of AI danger and then I finally sort of became fatalistic about it and said well even if I knew annihilation was certain would I choose to be alive at that time or not and I said I probably would have choose to be alive at that time because it’s the most interesting thing. Even if there was nothing I could do about it. So then, you know, then basically sort of a fatalistic resignation help me sleep at night because I was having trouble sleeping at night because of AI danger.”

A billionaire who believes that we’re all probably doomed within the next decade and has accepted it so he can sleep at night.

Maybe explains a lot about his behaviour? If you know this all ends in the next few years, why not just try crazy shit.

  • Really stunning looking atmospheric game but then I read this in a Steam review posted today by user Sawovsky “By far, the worst thing in this game is infuriatingly outdated traversal mechanics. The game only allows you to climb or descend at very specific places, and it won’t let you traverse anywhere else, despite being obvious that our character can do so. It’s hard to describe just how annoying this is.” I think I’ll wait to see if others echo this sentiment before going for it…

  • Back in the 90’s I owned a Forte VFX1 headset (shout out to my config.sys and autoexec.bat bros) and that truly tested your stomach but it was “the future” so everyone seemed to put up with the near constant nausea and vomiting. Things are so much better now, but there’s one fundamental aspect of VR in my view that will always hold it back. It’s not the cost, cos that eventually comes down. It’s that you’ll never get away from the fact that you are wearing a giant plastic thing on your head. You can’t itch your face. It gets hot and sweaty and generally not a fun time after a while. The minute someone figures out how to safely somehow beam the experience into your brain, without having to wear a high tech casserole dish on your head for hours then it’ll become the new global thing.

  • I’m a reddit refugee and as a non technical person I actually prefer kbin to reddit. It’s nice and simple and I get all the content I need easily. The only thing I wish was 1 click less is viewing images/videos. At the moment I seem to have to click on a post to go to that posts page and then click on the image/video in that post to see it full size. I wish I could just go through my feed expanding and dismissing images and videos with 1 click without having to load a separate page. Kbin is awesome though and definitely my home for the foreseeable :)

  • My online experience has been much better without reddit. kbin is awesome and I want nothing to do with reddit. Last week I deleted my 10 year old account and I even add “-reddit” to the end of my google searches now so nothing from them comes up in the results. The interesting thing I’m noticing is that the longer I’m away from that toxic hellhole the better I feel. Thank goodness for kbin!

On a sidenote, I’m also fully aware that a company as aggressive and twisted as reddit will definitely have agents in here trying to manipulate the conversation to get people to come back. I ain’t never coming back. Reddit sucks. I see you. Quit your BS.

  • Great question! Didn’t even have to think about it. It’s got to be Hardspace: Shipbreaker. It’s the game I go to whenever I’m down and just need to sink into something familiar and simple. I can just be an anonymous roughneck nobody, floating in orbit far above a ruined earth, taking old decommisioned spaceships apart for salvage. The Mackerel Exolab with the large Solar Sails is my favourite ship. It’s just really peaceful but with the slight risk of sudden death to keep me on my toes hehe
