  • Funny, the last Radio Shack I visited and bought something from was in Livingston.

  • My experience is very dated, but I bought a used windows Asus laptop in 2013 and put Ubuntu on it and experienced no problems. I had been using Linux for a long time, so maybe I remember this with rose glasses, but it was very straight forward. Also an integrated GPU, but of the 2013 era. I think the laptop was a 2012 model.

Config isn't hard, it just takes time 🙂

  • Yup.

  • Ya 🫤 Jerry is still touring (I think). He was good live then, but the last time I saw him was like a month or two after Layne's death. It's been awhile. He's older, but so am I, and presumably you 🙂 His solo stuff was great. We ended up getting a lot of AiC stiff at that '02 show. Very solid performance. Not really related, but I've heard the Sublime stuff is good, but I wasn't ever that into them, just have a friend who has stuck with it.

  • Ya that was the one , i listened to it, also. The very beginning sounded very familiar but I'm not sure about the rest. But maybe it's been 30 years and, well 🤷‍♂️ I never saw Candlebox live, guess I didn't miss out. I really liked Alice in Chains but only got to see Cantrell tour while "waiting"

  • there was a band called Hum

Wow, what a memory trip! I listened to that song, I don't think I have heard it before, but it is great! I'm pretty sure I heard a different song from them at the time, but they probably live in my mind from looking at BMG and CD warehouse catalogs at the time. Other artists have popped up over the years from there.

I'm glad I asked, and thanks for answering! Somehow that took me back to my Candlebox days.

  • Unrelated but is your username a play on benzene?

  • You and @Thorry84@feddit.nl really summed up my concerns and knowledge gaps succinctly! Don't want to frac, but don't want to miss an opportunity, either. Hard to beat pumped, tho. When applicable.

  • This looks incredible! Never heard of a Frasier. I am going to have to bounce off your idea and incorporate green chiles a la New Mexico.

  • You could bake some bread with them. Rice. Bread pudding. The tea is a good idea. So many sweet and savory options! But this is a flavor I enjoy.

  • Ya, usually liquids are compressed with air for any useful stored use. Otherwise something must continually pump. Maybe they are putting a large bladder into the ground?

  • The article doesn't discuss how they pressurize water. Conventional pumped storage uses gravity, the water isn't actually pressurized itself. Plus the whole liquid thing. But otherwise, neat!

  • Check please!

  • analog

Makes more sense now, I only picked up one the first 2/3 and thought of other things 😅

  • 😬 sometimes closings are good. My limited time in Charlotte showed me a lot of sprawl. Sorry to hear it is growing out instead of up.

  • I'm not sure if AInik works, wouldn't that mean they are a fan of AI? Also unsure of the synth- options as a friend of synthesizer musicians, but as a non musician maybe I should use that myself 🤔 I can't interpret analogian without help...

But the others sound pretty great! Cogstainers is awesome because it can be reworked into different word types. Verbs, adjectives. Incredible.

  • I don't think I've ever been there, but my mom lived outside of Lumberton for a bit and I visited a couple of times. I flew into Charlotte in 2023, probably the last time I was close.

Too bad it closed. I was in the Ashe and Watauga county area of NC. Visited folks in 23, changes there as I imagine you are seeing.

  • Fortunately for me (us?) I am an amateur entomologist 🐛

  • I'm curious about the reliability of this port on a sweaty wrist exposed to dust and general labor environments. My phones, even back to the proprietary plug days, have had the charge port covered and my wrist watch would get wrecked.
